Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the phenomenon of unemployment, which is one of the most important social problems of the state. This unemployment adversely affects not only the individual but also the entire family. It is a complex phenomenon, considered in terms of the object and subject. There are many definitions and classifications of unemployment and an explanation of who an unemployed person may be. Work is an indispensable element of human life, the aim of which is to consciously and purposefully meet human needs. On the other hand, losing a job is a life tragedy for an individual and many families. It turns out that men experience job loss more than women. In families, relations between spouses, or the relationship between parents and children, deteriorate, and conflicts arise. The introduction of the "Family 500+" program significantly improved the financial situation of Polish families.
