Summary/Abstract: The essay discusses the topic of the city in Bolesław Leśmian’s poetry. Readingvery few poems devoted to the city makes it possible to recognize thefragmentariness, dispersion and, in fact, absence of its image. The negativeaxiology and ontology of the city, expressed in Leśmian’s poetry, turns out to bean important contribution to understanding the fears and anxieties of modernity.
