Summary/Abstract: In this paper, a comparison of the economic situation in the countries of former Yugoslavia in the eve of its dissolution as well as of the current situation is made through multivariate analysis, based on current economic indicators. The current status of the quality of life of citizens living in the countries formed on the territory of the former common state is analyzed based on the concept of human security settings and by its dimensions and indicators. Results of the analysis show that the basis of the current issues is the poor economic situation resulting from the applied model of economic transition from socialism to capitalism.
