Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to present two innovative concepts of or ganisational management: no-boss and decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO). Both could be used concurrently to effect a profound transformation of Polish universities. These concepts are discussed against the background of selected consequences of the so-called Act 2.0 and the first stage of its implementation by academic institutions. The authors refer to the third mission of the university, discuss the attitudes and the situation of the academic teacher employed in a research-and-teaching position, and characterise the role of the university council. Using the potential of Act 2.0, the no-boss concept, and the DAO model, the academic community in Poland has an opportunity to advance from routine to creative activity. As a result, the necessary transformation of universities would take place, without which it will be impossible to achieve the goal set by the public authorities.
