Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the authors try to point out the fact that the changes that have happened on the international scene after the Cold War caused the changes of ideas, especially of the concept of security in general. That is why it is said that traditional concepts of security are not anymore able to explain or handle the complex nature, etiology, and phenomenology, of contemporary security challenges, risks, and threats. The paper will first present traditional concepts of security, and then it will introduce certain points according to which the security is being defined in a contemporary conceptual sense, and in the end, it will explain contemporary concepts of security.
