Summary/Abstract: The standard of comparison in a phraseological comparison is an exemplary carrier of the tertium comparationis. The analysis of such phraseological comparisons, which are united by the commonality of the standard of comparison, makes it possible to identify those features that, for native speakers of this language, members of a given cultural environment, are so typical that it even becomes a symbol of this feature. In this article, the standard of comparison is ‘woman’. Her features expressed in tertium comparationis allow us to check how Russians see a woman, how she is evaluated, how they treat her and what stereotypes about women are reflected in the Russian language.
