Summary/Abstract: The article gives an insight into some basic conceptual guidelines on how to design a university foreign language textbook as a tool for developing students’ intercultural communicative competence. The fundamental methodological approaches and principles for creating it are defined. In addition, an innovative textbook focused on preparing a future foreign language teacher for intercultural communication, designed in accordance with the described requirements, is presented
