Summary/Abstract: The article is set to identify the usage of modern means of communications in criminal activity, the types of communications frequently used by perpetrators and whether the interception of communications made by modern means can be ordered by the Court without identifying the person who owns the account. The article argues that in relation to current legislation and the standards set by the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights the identification of the owner of the account used is necessary and it is relevant in the procedure of authorizing the technical surveillance measure.
