Summary/Abstract: Globalization - a highly modern term in the 1990s, in the most general way understood as quickening connection of different areas of life of individuals, groups, states, economic units - is not slowing down. Especially small states, when not able to support their international position through some of the valued comparative advantages, can have problems with self-assertion. For such states one way how to attain more acknowledgement is to connect with others; this is happening in various parts of world and on various levels. One example of such integrative efforts of small states can be CARICOM, Caribbean Community and Common Market, in process of formation since 1970s, which includes mainly former colonies of United Kingdom from east Caribbean area in particular. With all respect to the principle of equality in international relations, it is only possible to hope that these small states would have the chance to individually enforce their partial needs in international relations. The aim of this analysis is to search an answer to the question to what extent the endavour of these small east Caribbean states is effective and whether it contributes to their better promotion and self-assertion in international relations.
