Summary/Abstract: Majewski explores the systematics of living beings (Linnaeus’ binominal nomenclature) that might impact the way we as humans understand our own position in the organic world. These features include: the continuous tradition of Latin names, the inclusion of the species Homo sapiens (i.e. the only organic form that is aware of its existence) in this system, and the tension between classification as an anti-narrative linguistic practice and the narrative nature of any attempt to tell the story of nature in human natural languages.
