Summary/Abstract: The article examines the linguistic markers which are of key importance to sketching out the profile of an almost unstudied medieval translator from the Kefalarevo monastery, hieromonk Dionysius Divni. The basic principles and techniques of translation (word-for-word, morpheme-for-morpheme, literal, free, adapted translation) along with translation errors are indicative of the author’s style, the influence of the Mount Athos translation tradition on pre-Euthymius texts, Dionysius Divni’s attitude to the Greek original, as well as his exquisite ability to translate to the Middle Bulgarian literary language the ornate rhetorical style of the Cappadocian great church father St. John Chrysostom.
