Summary/Abstract: The paper examines a relatively short period in the career of an exceptionally prominent conservative politician of the nineteenth century, namely the activities of Baron Miklós Vay (1802- 1894) as MP for Zemplén county at the Diet of 1830. The author focusses on Vay’s activities at the diet itself, especially in relation to the issue of recruits and soldiers and Zemplén country, before examining the political attack of the county opposition against Miklós Vay.
