Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to review and comparatively analyze approaches to organizing a public service system in Western countries and the CIS. From the authors point of view, the greatest practical interest is the comparison of approaches to organizing a public service system (and the very concept of “public service”) in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
