Summary/Abstract: Analyses of popular culture and the Holocaust have concentrated on a few genres of visual culture (with an emphasis on comics) at the cost of diminishing the role of audio culture (popular music and radio dramas). Practices of employing new media in digital culture have been insufficiently recognised. Łysak tries to rectify omissions in scholarship and draws a map for a new field of study on “scattered references to the Holocaust,” namely representations containing episodic references to the genocidal past which do not conform to standards of traditional commemoration. Finally, he underlines the necessity of ideological interpretation of popular representations as they are utilised in politically motivated revisions of history.
