The Formulary of Miklós Oláh Miklós. Introductory Study to a Critical Edition in Preparation

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the history and content of a formulary from the Jagiellonian period which, in the sixteenth century, came into the possession of the renowned humanist, Miklós Oláh. The manuscript is one of the most important formularies compiled in the territory of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. Its importance is constituted by the fact that it contains a great number of such letters and charters from the period between 1510 and 1514 whose originals have not survived. They not only offer insight into the domestic politics of that period, but also offer valuable help for the reconstruction of several details of Ottoman-Hungarian warfare in the decade before Mohács.
