Summary/Abstract: The political sphere has been full of ghosts, phantoms and demons for a long time. They take many forms and undergo various transformations. They have also been the subject of philosophical considerations as evidenced by Jacques Derrida’s popular book entitled ‘Spectres of Marx’ (1993). Political collective imagination, however, has not created a specific, political iconography and a catalogue of these ghosts. For this reason, it draws upon literature and now particularly upon popular culture, which today is experiencing a deluge of different kinds of spirits, demons and vampires. Some of them have also penetrated the political sphere. I do not intend to negate or downplay the appearance of the different types of political ghosts which haunt politicians and citizens from time to time, affecting political institutions and making political discussions and actions unreal. In this article, I try to reflect on the importance of this phenomenon and examine its philosophical basis.
