Summary/Abstract: The surprising and previously hardly-researched venture of funding a Hungarian hospital in the Turkish capital was one of the Hungarian initiatives during the First World War aimed at strengthening relations between the two allies. In this article I will attempt to present the background to the opening of the hospital, the organizational details, difficulties and the persons involved, and I will briefly cover the relations between the Hungarian Red Cross and the Turkish Red Crescent, and their joint projects.
