Summary/Abstract: The paper will present a portion of the results of the survey which examines various forms of motivating employees , as well as the balance between the employees`contribution to a company and the stimulants they receive. The survey has been conducted in January and February 2009, during the first few months of the global economy crisis, and involved 253 employed examine es in 10 Serbian cities. The most important result of the causal analysis is that we have determinant three statistically significant multiple correlatives for organizational balance. The first and the most dominant is related to the fairness of rewarding, the second to human relations, and the third to possibility to show one’s abilities at work. A comparative analysis of the importance which the examine es assign to certain forms of motivation and the actual presence of those forms of motivation in their companies shows that, after the fulfilment of existential needs, then of ego needs has the highest motivating potential, while fulfilment of social needs comes third. Therefore, we can conclude that the fulfilment of existential needs in times of crisis, can be compensated by the fulfilment of ego needs, i.e., in the sphere of traditionally neglected ego motivation.
