Summary/Abstract: In October 2018, Nikos Kotzias resigned from his post as foreign minister of Greece.Prior to his resignation, a sharp exchange of words had taken place between him and Panos Kammenos, the Greek minister of defense at the time. Kammenos had repeatedly and publicly attacked Kotzias for his policy to solve the “name issue”between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, now North Macedonia. In a comprehensive interview conducted in Athens Agreement after his resignation, Kotzias described the difficult path that led to the Prespa agreement which settled the decades-old name conflict between the two neighboring states and paved the way for North Macedonia to become a member of NATO.
