Summary/Abstract: The site Jakovo – Ekonomija Sava lies on the left, ancient bank of the Sava river, in the zone whose importance is notable in establishing relations withcommunities living along both the Sava and Danube rivers, but also with theareas in the Carpathian basin and the inner part of the Balkans, all the way tothe Aegean coast and the eastern Mediterranean. The site attracted attention of archaeologists back in 1950s, when a LateBronze Age hoard comprising almost 70 bronze objects and circa 3kg ofrow metal was found. It was the hoard find that initiated excavations of thesettlement in 1959. In most of the trenches (eight in total, with the surface of350m2) the cultural layer was thin and architectural remains extremely scarce.During the excavations, most of the trenches provided fluted pottery andadditional metal finds in correlation with the objects from the hoard.Today, the potential of the site can be found in its position not very farfrom the necropolis at the site Kaluđerske Livade, which is attributed to theLate Bronze Age Belegiš culture, too. Moreover, presence of varied pottery andmetal finds inside the trenches confirms that the site was attractive for settlingto the populations of the Middle and Late Bronze Age, late phase of the FirstIron Age and Second Iron Age, who must have benefited from choosing such aplace to inhabit.
