Summary/Abstract: Burgundy wines are known all over the world and benefit from a world customer base. This phenomenon is likely to develop as the UNESCO recently added the “Climats de Bourgogne” (Climats of Burgundy, i.e. precisely delimited vineyard parcels) to the World Heritage List because they enjoy a special and close link to their respective terroirs. This article looks into the link between local and global for the Burgundy grand crus and particularly examines how these wines are used as a showcase for all the local wines and vineyards.
