Summary/Abstract: This article represents author’s analysis of the ethnic composition and national identity problem of the moldavian soviet political class after 1944 based on new archive documents. The authorities treated with scorn in an open way all „formers”, all those who acted in the inter-war period, claiming them as hostile elements. From the other point of view in 1944 as well as in 1940 in Bessarabia first of all were sent Party’s activists from former SSARM and from the neighbour regions, especially from the Ukraine. But the access to the Party and state functions was blocked for illegal communists from Bessarabia, even if during the inter-war period they generally had a lojal attitude to USSR interests in Romania. This way the presence of the persons with the Bessarabian origin was long time unsignificant in the Communist Party staff from olova. In case of an absolute majority of the superior party elite of the state the act of claiming „moldovan” membership was more formal actually pointing out the geografical origin.
