Summary/Abstract: This study deals with literary works for children and youth by Jan Vladislav, especially his adaptations of fairy tales which could not be published due to the political situation in Czechoslovakia after August 1968. Jan Vladislav (1923–2009) was a significant Czech poet, novelist, essayist, and translator. Since the 50s, he wrote four dozen books for children and youth with two thirds of them adapting fairy tales from all over the world.
