Immigration as Economic and Societal Asset: the Italian Cooperation Model of Riace

Summary/Abstract: The study shows how the small village of Riace, in Calabria, has developed an atypical model for the reception of migrants, which has now proved to be economically and socially efficient, but also,surprisingly enough, sound from a cultural identity point of view. Riace provides evidence that an intelligent reception, carried out with dignity,can exist and be profitable for both parties: migrants and local people.
