Summary/Abstract: Nicholas Aston’s lectures on the Sentences of Peter Lombard, delivered at Oxford around 1350, are crucial for tracing reactions to the freshly released De causa Dei of Thomas Bradwardine and a unique piece of evidence for doctrinal tendencies at Oxford just before Wycliff. Although historical and doctrinal elements converge to demonstrate the significance of this author for our knowledge of Oxonian philosophy in the later Middle Ages, not much scholarly attention has been devoted to his surviving writings.
