Summary/Abstract: Within the Christian tradition, Hugh of Saint Victor can be placed in between scholasticism and mysticism. He is the living image of a learned mystic, who demonstrates how one can reach the contemplation of God through physical sciences, without putting the divine mystery on a secondary plane. He offers the sample of an instructed mystic, who tries to transform his knowledge into contemplation.
