Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the case of a monastery in the Banat region, near the lower Danube, at the beginning of the 13th century. At that epoch, the Hungarian Kingdom expanded on the territories previously ruled by the Bulgarian Czardom. The monastery presented here entered under Roman ecclesiastical jurisdiction, suffering a tormented reorganization. Its evolution is presented in comparison with a similar monastery in Cyprus.
