Summary/Abstract: This article briefly outlines the evolution of the Schengen area, the regime of free movement within the territory of the member states, but also the states that imposed the reintroduction of internal border control. The threats to the functioning of this Schengen concept have increased with the development of the states within the European Union and implicitly from the Schengen area. It is important to explain that once a nation develops considerably it will also pose threats. At the same time, the abolition of checks between member states will create a precedent in spite of the welfare of the nation. Crime within a Schengen state will create consequences for all member states. We can positively show that this concept of removing controls at internal borders can bring benefits to all member states, but barrier-free states can have serious repercussions on state internal security. Due to the free movement of citizens of the member states, there is a possibility that citizens from all member states can live together in the state where threats have been identified. In this context, the impact on society may become alarming. When a threat is identified in the territory of a member state, the internal border control will be reintroduced. This border control will only be carried out temporarily, but if the threat persists, security measures will be taken until all elements related to it have been removed.
