Generativist View of the Class of Pronouns in the Albanian Language

Summary/Abstract: The Albanian morphological structure owns a large morphological forms which not always have been analyzed correctly in the Albanian grammatology. Many of the grammatical items are not analyzed in an adequate way according to: the classification of this items as parts of speech and their old traditional analyses. The object of this working paper is the class of pronouns in Albanian language. The framework here is the one of the generative studies on the Determinative Phrase Theory, which analyzes the pronouns as the functional heads of DP. The method of this article consists on the analysis of the pronominal system of the Albanian language, also it will operate through some generative approaches on the determines of the Determinative Phrase, like the pronominal pronouns in several languages as in Albanian, Rumanian, Greek etc. This article will analyze the demonstrative pronouns, some of the possessive pronouns, the interrogatives and the indefinite pronouns as determines, which are functional heads of the Determinative Phrases, according to S. P. Abney theory (1987). Further, it will analyze their generate position, their grammatical features which allow them wether to be determines or not, their functional features as heads in the Determinative Phrase, their distribution according to other determines as articles etc.
