Semantic Movements During the Process of Converting the Preposition to the Prefix

Summary/Abstract: The prefix për- is one of the most used tools for the formation of new words, mainly verbs, in Albanian language. From the examination of the corpus of words formed by this prefix in three dictionaries (Fjalori i gjuhës së sotme shqipe 1980, Fjalori i gjuhës shqipe 2006 dhe Fjalori drejtshkrimor i gjuhës shqipe me mbi 81.000 fjalë i autorëve A. Dhrimo–R. Memushaj) there are interesting phenomenon to be studied. It is noted that the formations with the prefix për- are numerous, over 300. This prefix is one of the most active prefixes in the Albanian language. The lexical-grammar category, which is enriched and enriched by the formation of new words with this prefix, is the verb. In addition to the formation of a new lexical-grammatical unit, a new meaningful, semantic structure with its own components can be formed, which can be inherited from the word-forming theme or, more precisely, from a semantic theme or can be new components of the new word. Precisely, this is at the center of this study, semantic structure, and semantic movements during the formation of new words with the prefix për- . The study of the semantic descent in Albanian language gives the story of the semantic movements, the motivation of the new semantic units, the types and models of semantic origin, and the role of the different units participating in this process. This strives to reach our study “Semantic movements during the process of transformation of the preposition për in prefix”.
