Some Features of Phraseological Units in the Postribe Province

Summary/Abstract: This paper will focus on the phraseological wealth of the spoken language of Postriba, trying to bring attention to and analyze its most typical features. The province of Postriba contains a wealth of phraseology, with special skills and many original values that have not been utilized enough. They not only make wealthy the Albanian lexical fund, but enrich the discourse, unravel and color it as: mbaj barkun me dorë “ belly laugh”, ka një dërrasë mangut “ missing brain cells”, nuk ia han qeni shkopin “be on the ball”, nuk ja mân goja arrat “spill the beans”, e ka ha:l n sy “hate the sight of someone”etc. It is also noted that the words are chosen, both by content and expression. The phraseology gathered from the oral communication of the inhabitants of Postriba is rich and very original. The people of this province are distinguished for a free structure and form, the use of familiar and unfamiliar phraseologies, in adapting them to numerous creations and modifications, thus significantly affecting the increase of intensity of their marking and evaluative functions. Features of the phraseological constructs are: the change of word order (inversion), the insertion of other words, the expansion or truncation of the phraseological unit, without disintegrating it, and the formal recovery of the denying form by maintaining its denial content.
