THE MOBILITY OF CRAFTSMEN IN THE TERRITORY OF MEDIEVAL SERBIA

Summary/Abstract: During the Middle Ages, which belong to the long agrarian age, crafts developed and branched in line with own factors of development, influencing both the differentiation and stratification of craftsmen. To examine in more detail the mobility of these producers in the territory of medieval Serbia, the existing division of mobility types, harmonised with the given time, was applied to the data from source material. Thus, despite the modest percentage of craftsmen known by name, it was possible to establish that they were mobile and highlight individual types of mobility, either from the aspect of social geography, social stratification or shifts within families.
