Summary/Abstract: In the light of the new interpretation that the so-called Chronicle of the Priest of Dioclea is a product of humanist historiography, rather than an authentic medieval source, the origin of its data is examined through the works of Ragusan humanist historiography, starting from Ludovicus Cerva Tubero, who first referred to the “author Diocleas”, up to Mauro Orbin, who first published the purported text of the work of "Diocleas" in Italian.
