Summary/Abstract: The article is a comparative analysis of selected types of avant-garde Futuristic theatre with activities of post-war Happeners and contemporary artists. Their common feature is, above all, the desire to create new models of communication between the artist and the recipient. In all the cases analysed, this is related to the artists’ conviction that their actions could have a real impact on political and social change. Despite the fact that the ideological and aesthetic assumptions of Futurism are accepted and used almost directly by Happeners and contemporary artists, we are not dealing here with a direct continuation but with an extremely subversive gesture. This leads to the conclusion that the attitudes of artists from the early 20th and 21st century have not changed radically and it is possible to indicate similar trends in post-war artistic practices, which may be to some extent a continuation of Futuristic thinking about art and the world.
