Summary/Abstract: In developing and implementing strategy, managers will need to consider how to manage the change process. In order to manage strategic change effectively, it is important to understand its causes. Changes can arise in internal and in external environment. As a starting point, it is useful to analyse the causes of change, and it is also important to understand the dynamics of the change process in order to select the method used to suggest how such a change process can be managed in principle. Changes are primarily concerned with people and the tasks that they perform in the organisation. They undertake their work through formal organisation structures. They provide a channel of opportunities for management to influence change and to be influenced by the comments of those affected by such changes. In many cases, change is accompanied by a degree of risk and uncertainty. Although risk assessment san be undertaken in an impersonal way at the corporate level, uncertainty cannot be assessed in the same way at the personal level in an organisation. More consultation, reactions are therefore involved in these circumstances. However, it is important not to exaggerate the negative effects of change on people. Change can also be positive: people may feel enthused by the new strategies. Their contribution may be more than a passive acceptance of the proposed strategies, resulting in even lower costs. All this will depend on the context of change-the culture of the organisation, the way in which change is introduced and the nature of the changes proposed.
