Summary/Abstract: The article looks at public‑private partnership as an instruments of financing research, development and innovation projects (R&D&I) in Poland. The author introduces the case of the National Centre for Research and Development (NCRD), a governmental executive agency set up to fund applied research. The paper begins with presenting the rationale for changes in the structure of R&D&I funding by increasing the private expenditures, as it can result in a more innovative economy. Next, the author presents the tasks, range and results of NCRD activities, which focus on strengthening of cooperation between science and business, as well as increasing the business investment in R&D&I projects. The author also covers new pilot undertakings based on public‑private partnership created by NCRD, venture capital funds and seed fund investors.
