Mary, Queen of Poland

Summary/Abstract: The royal dignity of Mary is found mainly in two biblical texts: 1 Kings 2, 19-20 and Luke 1, 32. 33b. On October 11, 1954 Pope Pius XII issued an encyclical on this matter. The title “Queen of Poland” dates back to the “Oath of Jan Kazimierz” i.e. to April 1, 1656. However, a long time had passed before the feast was introduced in the whole Poland. We had to wait until 1930. Current liturgical texts praise Mary as the Queen of Poland. However, they demand that believers engage their lives in the work of redemption accomplished by Christ.
