Summary/Abstract: How to understand that in a French-speaking context, the use of ‘funerals’ gives rise to a reality other than a funeral and at the same time is seen as a strong brand identity for Bamileke? Our paper tries to explain how the encounter between the Bamileke culture of Western Cameroon and Western modernity has led to migratory movements that have influenced the country. This special encounter has also led to the introduction of specific expressions in the French spoken in Cameroon and has given to the emergence of a memory tourism, which is a source of an enhanced visibility of attractiveness and of economic development in the region.
