Învățământul pedagogic botoșănean în perioada interbelică
THE PEDAGOGICAL EDUCATION IN BOTOȘANI IN THE INTERWAR PERIOD

Summary/Abstract: By the end of the nineteenth and at the beginning of the twentieth century, schools inthe urban areas, but especially those in the rural areas, were confronted with a lack of primary schoolteachers for the primary schools, in the educational system of Romania. In this context, the politicalfactors from Botoșani County followed the national tendency of setting up pedagogical schools. Thus, inthe city of Botoșani, there have been created two important High Schools: "Despina Doamna”Pedagogical School (Școala Normală de Învățătoare ,,Despina Doamna” Botoșani) and "MihaiEminescu" Pedagogical School (Școala Normală de Învățători ,,Mihai Eminescu” Botoșani). These twoinstitutions had to prepare primary teachers for the schools in Botoșani and Dorohoi counties.Although they faced material difficulties, pedagogical schools played an important role in theenlightenment of the masses through culture
