Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to present the role and significance of a probation officer in the process of adjudicating and carrying out one of the so-called probation measures that is the conditional suspension of the execution of a penalty imposed on the perpetrators of bulling under art. 207 of the Polish Criminal Code. The tasks carried out by the probation officer are extremely impor- tant in the context of the proper formation and implementation of the conditional suspension of the execution of sentence imposed on the indicated group of perpetrators. The tasks per- formed by the probation officer include e.g. providing the adjudicating authority with detailed information about the offender (community inquiry, pre-sentence report), supervising the of- fender who is under the probation supervision, monitoring the offender’s behaviour during the probation period (including the fulfilling of the so-called probation obligations imposed on the offender). The article presents and describes the importance of these tasks as well as the difficul- ties related to their performance.
