THE TRAINING OF THE GENDARME OFFICERS IN 1935 FOR FULFILLING THE PRAETORAL SERVICE

Summary/Abstract: In 1935 general Pârăianu Barbu, the general inspector of the GeneralInspectorate of the Gendarmerie considered necessary an activity of guiding and training ofthe gendarmes in times of war, in paralel with the military training for fullfiling missions intimes of peace. Regarding this, he decided that the military training, which was being held inthe Gendarmerie's Military Training Centers, to go along with the military training of thearmy units and the military training to not be held only in groups or plutons like they wereuntil then, but to be extended to the police force companies. Also, in the Gendarmerie'sschools, the curriculum had to be adapted to the Gendarmerie's needs. This training impliedthe thorough assimilation of the general knowledge and the technical and tactical knowledgeabout the Gendarmerie's activity while in campaign, which was needed for the position ofpraetor at a Large Military Unit.
