Making use of multimedia, technologies, and board games: The case of the City Public Library in Gliwice

Summary/Abstract: The City Public Library in Gliwice over the recent years has been recording the following high indicators of its activity: more than 52,000 individuals lent items from the library’s collections and a similar number of users took advantage of the library’s cultural-educational offer. The article presents solutions introduced, consisting of technology and new library resources, which both increased the quality of the Public Library’s activity. This outline discusses the most significant projects from a viewpoint of utilizing technology in the creation of an attractive offer and, particularly, the Gliwice library’s achievements within this scope of activity. The presented material may encourage and inspire those cultural institutions who are willing to implement similar solutions in their services and activity.
