Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to reconstruct Rousseau's influence, which the acquaintance with Rousseau's works exerts on Kant's own views. On the basis of a careful reading of Kant's notes in his own copy of his essay Observations on the Sense of Beauty and the Sublime, quotations and commentaries from the books published by Rousseau in 1761-62 are analyzed. It is this dialogue with Rousseau, which opens before Kant the prospect of rethinking and framing new conceptions of the nature of human nature, of respect for every person, of proper education and of the unconditionality of morality.
