Summary/Abstract: The paper raises the subject of visualization of faces marked by death, analyses the issue of artistic presentations of this category of understanding the notion of death which was defined as a ‘transition’, in the poetic texts of Polish romantics. The images of dying heroes present emotions revealed in the works. They also reflect the aspect of romantic anthropology which interprets human existence as a continuous process which lingers also after crossing the border of death. The very moment of crossing it, as a visualization of the face of a dying hero, turns out to be another category of ‘the state of higher awareness’.
