Summary/Abstract: This research will focus on the main trends, or biases, in the repertoire policy of the National Theatre of Bulgaria (2010 – up to now) catalysed through the managerial intentions and practices with regard to director’s and actor’s theatre. In view of decisions invoked by various cultural policies, as well as by confronting artistic interests, the factual sustainable propensity of Bulgaria’s main stage draws a complicated landscape of the repertoire selection, choice of actors, and, mainly, directors within the National Theatre. The study will postulate and analyse certain well established notions and traits conceptualising on type, value and tasks of the contemporary theatre product of the National Theatre. A report of this kind will be aided by the direct access I have to the resources of the National Theatre, and will be aimed at conclusions that will be beneficial and of particular professional interest to all involved in the stage arts, whether management, or artists, in Bulgaria.
