Summary/Abstract: The article revives the location, identity of the composer and the first performers of the Croatian anthem. It was written based on the new archival and library research as well as the existing literature. It begins with data and the facts about life and career of the military officer Josif Runjanin born in 1821 and ends with a 2019 news on the initiative to open the National Anthem Museum in Glina, focusing on selected events in particular periods (the period of Runjanin's life; the period since his entry into music historiography until the end of World War I; the inter-war period; the period from 1941 to 1945; the post-war period; the period from the breakup of Yugoslavia to the military operation Storm; the period from 1995 onward). The authorship of Josif Runjanin and the enthusiasm of the first performers, members of the “Serbian Charity Singing Society in Glina”, throw light on the indelible imprint and inalienable contribution of prominent Serbs and Serbian associations, specifically from Glina, to the anthem of the Croatian people.
