Summary/Abstract: This study deals with the artistic approach of Petr Sís to a legendary figure, the French author of the acclaimed story of the Little Prince. In 2014, a book was published in various countries, in which the author crafted a compelling textual-iconic narrative of a life story about the individual fate of the pilot and writer in such a way that he intertwines the relationship between the author and his archetypal hero in the second half of the book. This does not merely consist of a combination of biographical data and the individual fate of the pilot and writer, but the reader instead gradually observes how Saint-Exupéry brought existential themes to life, how he artistically depicted the actual and fictional world. Sís’ narration about the author and the Little Prince also leads the reader through various settings and characters, shifting between the colourful events of the external world and the internal features of its heroes. The portrait of Saint-Exupéry is interesting, firstly, because the reader may learn many facts about the history of aviation, and, secondly, because the author adequately connects reality with current social events, which presents sceneries from monumental places in the world, while, at the same time, repeatedly leaves room for mystery.
