Summary/Abstract: The development of the new Bulgarian playwriting is one of the main priorities of the cultural policy of the communist power in the field of theater. The text analyzes the main activities related to this “nurture” of the new Bulgarian dramaturgy. It became a constant topic of discussions and publications. The com-munist government organized playwriting competitions and also commissioned texts to the authors and defined themes. The Committee for Science, Arts and Culture through the procedures of the Repertory Bureau established in 1948, su-pervised the development of the new Bulgarian texts. They were being reviewed, discussed and in most cases returned for editing with specific instructions etc. Once being approved, the Committee also took care of the stage life of the new texts by connecting their authors to the theaters and commissioning their stagings.
