Summary/Abstract: Four years after the decision of the Management Board of Bulgarian National Bank to place CCB AD under special supervision, the country's economy is still dealing with the consequences. There is evidence that the reaction of the State to the presumable insolvency of the Bank has brought about a loss of public confidence in the motivation of State bodies to act in the public interest. The judiciary sided with the other authorities and that gave rise to doubts about the application of the principle of supremacy of law. In this situation, in order for recession under the conditions of zero interest rates to be avoided, the European Commission and the government of Bulgaria had to generate an enormous amount of incoming cash flow in the form of helicopter money. The statistical data show that the current economic growth is mainly due to this stimulus. There are indications that a suspension of funding will mean putting an end to the growth of the gross domestic product. Today, when it is known that the State might start playing unfair at any point in time, the rational behaviour of the entrepreneurs is to avoid bank credits and, instead of them, to look up to the sky for the appearance of helicopters.
