Summary/Abstract: The current study aims at constructing a cultural-historical profile of the mosque (1444–1445) and türbesi of Shahabeddin pasha in Plovdiv. The author analyzes the specificity of the architectural plans and presents a visual reconstruction of the social life revolving around them. The study method involved an analysis of a range of documents – Ottoman chronicles, scientific research, etc., as well as fieldwork aimed at updating the information related to the monuments preserved today. The recorded legends of the local population related to the life of Shahabeddin pasha are also used in the study in addition to the sources mentioned above. One of the main sources of information on the past profile of the mosque and türbesi of Shahabeddin pasha and their location in the urban environment is a few works by Bulgarian artists mainly. These works are reviewed as documental visual material which complements the originality of the Ottoman architecture on Bulgarian territory.
